German Equity Day of the BVK

On May 25, 2023, Germany's largest equity investors, fund managers and investment bankers met to discuss the current situation and measures with politicians, business representatives and scientists.

LEVI, together with some manufacturers, presented the LEV industry as a worthwhile investment sector and actively recruited investors.

An industry with a lot of potential is asking for commitment to development

LEVs are already a bestseller in Asia

Due to the high population density, air pollution and the lower income structure in Asian countries, light vehicles have long dominated the cityscape there.

With electrification, many new vehicle concepts are being developed in Asia, and with success!

For example, the newcomer Hongguang Mini EV from SAIC-GM-Wuling is topping the sales charts for electric vehicles worldwide, although it is currently only sold in China, the world's largest car market.

Priced at around €5,000, the Mini offers space for four people, with a range of 120 kilometers and a top speed of 100 km/h. Sure, the price is a challenge, but the potential is clear. And so the Asians are now pushing into the European market. Not just with electric light vehicles, but above all with the battery components.

The LEV developments by German engineers are far better, safer and also more stylish. The only problem: The LEV developers in this country lack capital and more political support.

Record growth of 62% in cargo bikes

The market data from the Two-Wheeler Industry Association (ZIV) shows that the LEV industry also has great potential in this country. According to this, 167,000 cargo bikes, 120,000 of which were electric, were sold in Germany in 2021. This is a growth of 62 percent compared to the previous year.

The numbers show that consumers certainly do
are willing to leave their car parked more often
and to use alternative vehicles for the individual transport of children, shopping or
enable loads.

Costs seem to play a minor role
to play, because the purchase price of a cargo bike is on average €10,000-12,000.
How much potential a car-like vehicle has
which doesn't have the same comfort as a
Car offers, but cheaper to purchase
and is maintained, one can easily imagine.
